Barak Bulletin Strikers win exciting match in BPL moving to the semis, Ashreen Blossom wins stunning match
Both matches on the third day of the Barak Premier League Season Six were low-scoring. However, despite low scoring, both the matches were nail biting. On Wednesday, Barak Bulletin Strikers won the exciting match and collected the ticket to the semis. They defeated Dudhpatil Dragons by three runs.
Barak Bulletin’s captain Samik Das won the toss and decided to bat first. But their start was not as expected. Right-handed opener Aman Singh (7) returned early. After that captain Samik and Shubham Sarkar took the lead of the team. In this partnership, Barak Bulletin returned to the fight but was lagging behind in terms of run rate. Dudh Patil’s slow bowlers were bowling well. The batsmen were not given much room. Finally, Samik (28) returned to the dressing room after trying to hit a big shot. Shubham Sarkar got run out after scoring 36 runs.
Strikers came under a bit of pressure after Shubham’s dismissal. After that, one of the team’s star batsman Parvez Aziz also got run out and went back doubling the pressure. In such a situation, Arnab Nandy played a great cameo in the last two overs. He remained unbeaten with 29 runs off 16 balls. He was assisted by Rajkumar Paul (12 not out off 7 balls). Barak Bulletin raised a defending score of 131 runs for six wickets due to the partnership of Arnab and Rajkumar. Tushar Saha and Sagar Chhetri took two wickets each.
Chasing this run on a somewhat slow wicket was not easy for Dudh Patil. At one time Dudh Patil became the favorite to win the match. In fact, the Strikers could not do good fielding to defend their easy score. On the other hand, Dudh Patil’s running between the wickets was a sight to behold. However, the colours of the match started to change as soon as left handed spinner Rajkumar Paul came to bowl.
Several of Dudh Patil’s batsmen started well but failed to score big. Aman Chhetri scored 32 runs, Tushar Saha scored 24 runs and Sadiq Imran scored 11 runs. Rajkumar Paul bowled well. His bowling analysis was 4-1-13-3. Shubojit Paul also bowled well under pressure. He conceded just eight runs in two overs. Shubham Sarkar got two wickets. Despite a good fight, Dudh Patil got stuck at 128 runs for eight wickets. They needed 17 runs in the last over to win. However, Dudh Patil managed to score 14 runs in left handed spinner Deepak Burgohain’s over.
Yesterday in the first match of the day Ashrin Blossom Katigorah defended their score of 113 runs. They beat Silchar Lions by six runs. Dipu Chhetri scored the highest 40 runs for his team Katigorah. Apart from this, Soumyadeep Das made 26 runs. Right-arm pacer Nihar Paul (3-21) took three wickets. Jewel Barlaskar took four wickets (4-12). Silchar Lions got stuck at 107 runs for 9 wickets while chasing. Eight runs were needed in the last over to win. But Shambhu Roy’s bowling forced Silchar Lions to lose.
