Big Breaking: Concrete Bridge Collapses in Bhaga, Cachar; Truck Driver Missing
A major accident occurred today in the Bhaga region of Cachar, where a concrete bridge over the Rukni River collapsed, leading to a terrifying situation. The incident took place on the Bhaga-Sherkhan connecting road, plunging the area into panic. Two trucks above the bridge fell into the debris while a driver remains missing.
This evening, September 13, the bridge connecting Bagha with adjacent areas including Sherkhan, Jamalpur and a larger area collapsed moments while two stone-laden tripper trucks were passing by. Due to the ongoing construction work of the connecting road, trucks carrying construction materials were ferrying between the areas.
While one heavy vehicle was stationed above the bridge, two trucks loaded with construction stones were passing by. All of a sudden the bridge broke and separated into two parts from the middle. The middle joint of the river fell into the Rukni River along with the two trucks, forming a V-shaped collapse.
As of now, one dumper driver is reported missing, sparking concerns among the local community and authorities. The collapse of this bridge has disconnected a larger area with Bhaga and Silchar. This caused significant disruption, with hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the river, halting all traffic in the area.
Locals in the region are in shock, and the incident has raised questions about the safety of infrastructure in the area. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and taking measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
