
Borkhola: Partially Decomposed Body Found in Drain, Identity Unknown
A wave of concern has spread among locals after an unidentified body was found floating in a drain at Bijoypur Tea Garden under Borkhola Police Station. The discovery was made on Tuesday afternoon when garden workers noticed the body and immediately informed the police.
Upon receiving the report, Borkhola Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nilkamal Baruah, along with Sub-Inspector (SI) Gobinda Seal and their team, arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It was then sent to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem examination.
According to police sources, the deceased is estimated to be around 35 years old. He was found wearing a black shirt and black half-pants. The body was partially decomposed, and it was floating in the water when discovered.
OC Nilkamal Baruah stated that the police are actively investigating the case. “Until we receive the post-mortem report, we cannot determine the cause of death or reach any conclusions. As of now, we are searching for any missing person reports that may help in identification,” he said.
The body will be kept in the morgue for the next 72 hours. Police have urged anyone with a missing relative to come forward for identification.
