Cachar DC makes proposed corporation map public; Invites claims and objection; “Deadline Oct 22”
Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Rohan Kumar Jha called a press conference at his office and made the proposed map of Silchar Municipal Corporation public.
He stated that the residents of Silchar can raise objections or claims till October 22. They can write to the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs or to the state through the office of the Executive Officer, Silchar Municipality Board, Ashutosh Deka who is also the ADC. “Letters can be submitted in person or through email.”
It is worth mentioning here that many maps of the proposed corporation have emerged in public. The first map was spread across 126.95 square kilometre then another map started circulating which was 122.62 square kilometres and then 111.00 square kilometre and then another one with 79.00 square kilometre but the map that got notified is spread across 69.49 square kilometre.
“We don’t know about the previous versions. This is the proposed map that we have sent and has notified through a gazette notification on October 7. So, as per municipal laws, we invite claims and invitations till October 22 which is 15 days from tomorrow,” stated the Deputy Commissioner.
Spread across the 69.49 square kilometre, the proposed Municipal Corporation will have 42 wards and proposed population of 3,26,907. It is worth mentioning that current area of the Silchar Municipality Board, 15.75 square kilometre.
