Cachar Police detains boyfriend of deceased for interrogation following family's allegation

Breaking news coming in from the District Police headquarters in Silchar. The Cachar Police has attained a major breakthrough in the investigation of the alleged rape and murder case of a female resident in Silchar. The dead body was recovered yesterday from an under-construction in Dwarbond. The family members alleged that her boyfriend might have played a role in the murder and urged the Police officials to interrogate him.

Police sources informed that this alleged boyfriend was already in the radar of the investigating officers. In fact, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta is himself monitoring the case from close quarters. Today, the officials detained an individual identified as Pinak Suklabaidya from Hailakandi as a suspect in the alleged rape and murder case. Cachar SP is interrogating him at the SP office in Silchar.

Our correspondent reporting from the SP office informed that there is pin drop silence at the SP office with the press waiting outiside in anticipation of a briefing.

Sources close to the development has informed that Cachar SP has cracked the case and it is no longer a murder mystery. In fact, SP Mahatta is expected to meet the press tonight when he will share the details of the investigation.

If sources are to be believed, Suklabaidya furnished a ticket from Bangalore – Guwahati dated July 17 (Monday) and said that he has only travelled after he learned about the girl going missing. However, the Police officials have traced his ticket from Bangalore to Silchar dated July 14 (Friday) – the day the girl went missing on her way back from Office. Multiple tickets and anomalies in details shared by the boyfriend is what brought him under the spotlight. He is in fact believed to have travelled to Guwahati on Saturday/Sunday.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta was unavailable to confirm the details sourced by Barak Bulletin as he is busy in the interrogation.
