Cachar Police detains SBI’s chief manager - Audit after deceased branch manager’s mother lodged FIR

Yesterday morning, cleaners, guards and staff of SBI Kabuganj branch found the hanging body of their Branch Manager Kuldeep Dasgupta in the bank’s record room. His body was hanged with a rope tied around his neck. Strangely his legs were also tied to the rope.

Today deceased’s mother lodged an FIR in Sonai Police Station regarding her son’s mysterious death. In the FIR, Kuldeep’s mother Aloka Dasgupta wrote that she alongwith other family members and close relatives observed Kuldeep to be under extreme pressure and anxiety. Kuldeep disclosed that the activities of two persons created difficulties and pressure in discharging of his duties as he was unauthorisedly and illegally pressurised by them.

She strongly suspected that those two people named Yogendra Pandey (chief manager – Audit, SBI) and Shibu Nath (sub staff of SBI Kabuganj Branch) either killed her son to hide their misdeeds or abetted him to commit suicide.

Concluding her letter, she requested the Officer-In-Charge of Sonai Police Station to investigate into the matter and take appropriate action according to the provision of the law.

What comes as a massive breaking news, Cachar Police confirmed that Yogendra Pandey has been detained for interrogation. Based on the findings of the interrogation, the Police will decide if there is a need for custodial interrogation. He has been escorted to Silchar Sadar Police Station and is being currently interrogated there.
