Cachar Police Foil Drug Traffickers' Escape, Seize Massive Yaba Shipment

Cachar Police have arrested two drug traffickers in Katirail, Katigorah, and seized nearly 10,000 Yaba tablets from their possession. The accused, identified as Shamim Uddin Khan and Didarul Islam, were attempting to flee the police when they were apprehended.

Based on a tip-off, Cachar Police launched an operation and stopped a passenger auto in Katirail. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of Yaba tablets. The tablets were being transported by the two accused.

Sensing the police operation, the two men tried to escape by jumping into a nearby pond. However, the police chased them down and successfully captured both traffickers after a brief pursuit.

The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated at Katigorah Police Station, where investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in drug trafficking.

This arrest comes as part of Cachar Police’s continued efforts to crack down on drug trafficking in the district as part of Assam Police’s war on drugs. With the rising number of drug-related incidents in the region, law enforcement agencies have increased their vigilance.
