Cachar Police, Sunodhan Das reach Garia; Sourav, Supriya remain untraced
11-year-old Sourav Das and his sister 6-year-old Supriya Das remain untraced. The siblings went missing on June 6, 2019, from Silchar. Recently, Sunadhan and Somobala Das, parents of Sourav and Supriya sat on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the administration to search and find their kids. Cachar Police detained both of them and sent to Silchar Civil Hospital where they were treated for a couple of hours and then discharged.
On several occasions, Cachar Police requested for time from the parents but failed to keep any assurances. Recently an image went viral on WhatsApp which stated an unidentified girl was found in Garia Railway Station. The girl in the viral WhatsApp message had resemblance with Supriya Das. Garia is a Kolkata Suburban Railway Station on the Sealdah–Namkhana line with an approximate 13 kilometres distance from Sealdah railway station. It is under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways.
Investing officers from Cachar along with Sunadhan Das visited Garia Station yesterday but could not trace the Supriya or Sourav. The investigating officer informed that Garia does not have a Railway Police Station and so they went to Jadavpur Railway Police Station to find out more about the viral WhatsApp message and the image. Jadavpur Police station, after checking the image clarified that it was neither shot in Garia nor anywhere in Jadavpur Railway Station.
The investigating officers from Cachar Police informed that they checked with several locals at Garia station and no one could identify the viral image nor Supriya or Sourav.
Sunadhan Das is a daily wager and they are residents of Tapoban Road in Ashram Road Silchar.
