Cachar sets new record with 92 positive cases in one day; 389 active cases in the district
At 11:45 Dr. Ibrahim Ali, DSO, IDSP Cachar shared that the district recorded 92 positive cases on Friday. This is the highest single-day spike the district witnessed in 2021. He informed, 52 of them tested positive on RT-PCR and 40 on RAT kits.
It is worth mentioning here that the number of RT-PCR tests done per day has gone up manifold as the private labs have also started testing samples.
Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed currently, there are 29 patients undergoing treatment at the hospital’s COVID block. 11 of them are in the ward while eight in COVID ICU. Dr. Gupta added that three patients have been placed under a ventilator while five are in oxygen support. Three new patients were admitted to SMCH while two got discharged.
On April 23, Hailakandi reported four fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 3,409.
With these new cases, the district has altogether 27 active COVID-19 cases while 3,359 patients have been discharged after being cured. Seven patients are presently undergoing treatment at SK Roy Civil Hospital, one at Silchar Medical College and Hospital and 19 kept under home isolation.
