Cholo Bangladesh: Protest Erupts in Karimganj Over Atrocities on Minorities in Bangladesh
Thousands of people gathered in Karimganj today to protest against the atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. The protest, called “Cholo Bangladesh” (Let’s go to Bangladesh) organised by the Hindu Rakshi Dal, saw participants from various parts of the district joining in to voice their anger and frustration.
The protestors, wearing black cloths on their heads and carrying placards, began their march from the Karimganj College, heading towards Sutarkandi, a border area near Bangladesh. However, the police attempted to stop the procession by setting up barricades in front of Karimganj College, leading to a tense standoff. The situation escalated as protestors pushed past the barricades, leading to a brief clash with the police.
The protestors continued their march, shouting anti-Bangladesh slogans and vowing to take action against the neighbouring country. The situation became particularly heated at Bridge Road, where the police were finally able to halt the march. Despite this, the protestors continued their chants, with some even threatening to cross the border into Bangladesh.
The demonstration concluded with the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa on the streets, as the protestors declared their determination to protect Hindus in Bangladesh.
This protest comes in response to recent reports of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. Since Sheikh Hasina fled from her country, there have been numerous reports of violence, including the burning of Hindu temples and the killing of Hindu leaders across Bangladesh. The situation has been particularly tense following the recent political turmoil in Bangladesh, which has seen widespread violence and a breakdown of law and order across the country.
