Coronavirus: Assam to introduce ILP type entry permits once the lockdown is lifted
State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Monday, said that the state will impose ILP (Inner Line Permit) type entry permits on a temporary basis for people, who will come to Assam once the lockdown ends. The permit will also be mandatory for the permanent residents of Assam.
“Whenever the lockdown ends, 15 or 20 April, if all people of Assam starts returning at a once, all our efforts to restrict the outbreak will go in vain,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said while briefing the press in Guwahati, adding that the state will start an ILP like system where people have to take permission for admission before entering the state.
“We will soon launch a website where people can seek entry permits. This will give a benefit to us that we will get the exact figure of how many Assamese people are currently outside the state and are from which location,” he added.
The permit will also be necessitated as the government needs to chalk out a plan to put the returnees under quarantine. Sarma urged the citizens to give their valuable feedback and suggestion to tackle the situation.
