Customer Safety Concerns: Vishal Mega Mart Under Scrutiny After Theft Incident
A shocking incident occurred at Vishal Mega Mart, in Silchar, raising concerns about customer security within the premises. On Tuesday, April 2, Salimul Hoque Laskar from Baskandi went shopping. While on the second floor, the building experienced repeated power shutdowns. Seizing this opportunity, an unknown perpetrator managed to steal Salimul’s phone and some cash.
Salimul, unaware of the looming threat, focused on his shopping inside the reputed establishment. As he navigated the aisles, the building encountered multiple blackouts, leaving him vulnerable. Upon reaching the checkout counter, he discovered his phone and approximately Rs 8000 missing.
Upon realizing the theft, Salimul approached the manager to review the CCTV footage. To his dismay, he found that the second floor footage lacked surveillance cameras. He raised concerns about customer security within Vishal Mega Mart, alleging possible involvement of insiders in the theft.
During his discussion with the manager, Salimul questioned the establishment’s measures to prevent unpaid items from leaving. However, there seemed to be a lack of action towards enhancing customer security, with reported inappropriate behavior towards distressed customers.
Following the incident, authorities arrived to take Salimul’s statement. When approached by the media for comment on the matter, the manager evaded questions and remained silent.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of customers’ belongings within Vishal Mega Mart and the absence of adequate security measures by a reputed establishment. Salimul’s allegations hinting at insider involvement raise doubts about the assurance of preventing such occurrences in the future.
