Cyclone Dana Prompts Train Cancellations for Safety: Silchar-Secunderabad Superfast Express Included
As Cyclone Dana approaches, several trains have been cancelled to protect passengers. The cyclone is expected to make landfall between 24 October and 26 October, affecting coastal areas of Odisha and Bangladesh.
Cyclone Dana is forecasted to form in the Bay of Bengal, with meteorologists predicting a high likelihood of it developing. Wind speeds during landfall could reach up to 150 km/h, posing significant risks to the region.
In response to the impending cyclone, many train services have been cancelled. Notably, the Superfast Express connecting Silchar to Secunderabad will not operate on 23 October. This train is essential as it links Silchar with major parts of the country, facilitating travel for many passengers. Additionally, the AC Superfast Express from Kamakhya to SMVT Bengaluru is also cancelled on 23 October, along with the Vivek Express from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari.
According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NF Railways, the following trains have been cancelled:
– Train no. 12552 (Kamakhya – SMVT Bengaluru) AC Superfast Express on 23 October
– Train no. 12514 (Silchar – Secunderabad) Superfast Express on 23 October
– Train no. 22504/22503 (Dibrugarh – Kanyakumari – Dibrugarh) Vivek Express on 23 October
– Train no. 12509 (SMVT Bengaluru – Guwahati) Superfast Express on 23 October
– Train no. 15227 (SMVT Bengaluru – Muzaffarpur) Express on 24 October
