Dead body of 13-year-old fished out from Dhaleshwari river, Hailakandi
13-year-old Soma Das, who went missing after drowning in Dhaleshwari river at Gharmura of Hailakandi yesterday, was fished out on Sunday.
The victim identified as Soma Das was the daughter of Bipul Das, a resident of Gharmura village under Ramnathpur Police Station.
It was learned that Soma had gone out with her mother and sister to fetch water from the Dholeswari river when tragedy struck on Saturday.
Following a frantic call of drowning at around 2:26 pm on Saturday, Hailakandi Fire and Emergency Services Station rushed to Garmura near the forest office.
SDRF personnel and firefighters rushed to the spot. Deep divers from Silchar were also pressed. Search teams called off the efforts in the evening because of fading light. The search operation was resumed again on Sunday morning leading to the recovery of the body.
SO, F&ESS, Hailakandi, Albert I Khobung informed that the body of the drowned victim has been sent to the SK Roy Civil Hospital for post mortem.
