Doctor in Silchar Medical College, 61-year-old patient test COVID Positive without travel history
Cachar district administration and officials in Silchar Medical College and Hospital said “they are worried” after today’s test reports were disclosed. A 61-year-old resident of Rongpur Das Para area, Supriti Paul had got admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital after developing Influenza-Like Illness (ILI).
“The woman does not have any travel history and she admitted herself after developing ILI. As she had COVID19 symptoms the doctors in SMCH prescribed her a COVID19 test and her reports show she is carrying the infection,” informed Suman Choudhury, media expert, District Health Department.
He added that all her family members have been isolated and they will be tested immediately. At the same time, the administration will trace people who came in contact with Paul.
Another case that is worrying the administration is of Dr. Orina Raha. GDMO at Department of Forensic Medicine, Silchar Medical College and Hospital drove to the institution earlier today and she got to know that she is COVID19 positive.
“We have isolated her driver and she will now undergo treatment. She does not have any travel history either,” informed Suman Choudhury.
Apart from the two, an Indian Army official placed under quarantine in Masimpur Medical Hospital also tested positive today.
A total of three individuals have been found positive so far today in Cachar.
