Fire breaks at a residence in Rongpur; Three engines bring flames under control

At around 4:45 pm today, locals of Rongpur area spotted smoke coming out of a residential building. Located right opposite Rongpur Police Patrol Post, the house of Mohammad Kajol Hussain Barbhuiya in Rongpur Part II was under fire.

As per locals, they saw the fire first coming out of the godown at the rear end of the house. Barbhuiya, who has a business in Jiribam stocks up rubber at his own residence. Fire and Emergency services were informed and three engines rushed to the spot. It took around an hour for the firemen to bring the flames under control. The source of the fire still remains unknown.

Barbhuiya said that a Santro Car of his tenant has burnt down to ashes and his own Maruti Suzuki Swift is partially damaged. Moreover, the room where he stocks rubber and raw materials is completely damaged due to the fire.

“I had kept the room separated from the house and that saved us or else it could have been more dangerous. I thank the firemen, locals for their efforts in controlling the fire. In that small room, raw materials, unprocessed rubber, rubber pieces were stocked up,” informed Barbhuiya.
