Former Sirajul Ali HS School Principal Buddhadev Choudhury appointed as the President of the Governing Body of Women's College

On February 21, 2023, the Director of Higher Education, Assam, Dharmakanta Mili issued an order to reconstitute the Governing Body of Women’s College, Silchar, with immediate effect. Retired Principal of Sirajul Ali HS School, Buddhadev Choudhury, was appointed as the President (Educationist) of the Governing Body of Women’s College for a term of five years, or until an early termination for reasons which would be recorded in writing.

Choudhury is recognised for his efficiency as a principal and his strong organisational skills. He is a close aide to Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty and a member of his think tank. Additionally, Choudhury has served as the District Secretary and State Vice-President of All Assam Higher Secondary Teachers’ and Staff Association.

Furthermore, Choudhury was the founding member of Silchar College of Education, the first private teacher training institute in Barak Valley. He previously served as the secretary of the managing committee of the College. He was also the secretary of Kristi Vivek Sangskritik Sangstha for a long time
