Foundation stone laid for Swami Vivekananda auditorium in Silchar
The foundation stone for construction of Swami Vivekananda auditorium and guest house was laid at Itkhola in Silchar on Tuesday.
The ceremony was held at 10 am this morning. Cachar deputy commissioner Laya Madduri, Silchar MLA and former deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dilip Kumar Paul, and former minister Kabindra Purkayastha were present among others.
An amount of Rs. 1 crore under untied fund has been allocated for the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Kumar Paul said the country has been witnessing immense progress and development since the BJP came to power. The government has been working with commitment to bring “good days” for the masses, he said.
He suspected that some evil forces have become jealous of the development brought by the BJP and as such they are trying to create unrest using the issue of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill so that development gets stalled.
“Some evil forces are trying to create obstacles in the path of progress and development. However, their attempts will not be fruitful and the government will continue its good work in the days ahead,” he said.
Paul also took a jibe at the Congress saying personalities like Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose did not get the recognition they deserved during the Congress rule. “Contributions of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji were acknowledged in real sense only after the BJP came to power,” he said.
Laya Madduri said it would be ensured that a standard quality of work is done and the project is completed properly. The administration will extend its helping hand in case of necessity of funds, she said.
“Anomalies in implementation of the project will not be tolerated. The administration will make sure all the works are completed in a proper way. Funds will be arranged if required,” she said.
Kabindra Purkayastha heaped praises on the government and said the government has ushered in a new era of development in the state and the country. He also spoke about the life history and contributions of Vivekananda and hailed him as one of the most inspiring personalities that the country has produced.
The programme concluded around 11am.
