Free Coaching in Sylheti for aspirants taking recruitment tests; "The idea is to make it a level playing field," Hrishiraj Bhattacharjee

The Government of Assam has advertised 26,441 vacancies that will be filled through recruitment examination. Most of these are Grade III and Grade IV posts. Karimganj’s Hrishiraj Bhattacharjee and Samujjal Das have teamed up to offer free coaching to all the aspirants.

“The idea is to make it a level playing field,” says Hrishiraj Bhattacharjee, an entrepreneur committed to social responsibilities. “The general perception is that certain biases work against the aspirants from Barak Valley and therefore, they don’t get the job. I don’t believe it. My opinion is that we don’t have the necessary coaching Infrastructure that prepares the applicants. That is the gap we are trying to fill,” adds Bhattacharjee.

The idea germinated in the head of his junior at Karimganj Government School and National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Samujjal Das. Das has seen the coaching infrastructures in Delhi and has himself been a part of many. He will bring his learnings and create a module-based system to maximise the outcome in minimise the effort.

“You can write a couple of books on India’s Independence, but that won’t make sense to the aspirants of these examinations. So, we will create notes in a manner that stays true to the mission,” informed Bhattacharjee.

The language of communication will be Sylheti and any aspirant from Barak Valley can enroll free of cost. “When Samujjal Das reached out to me with the idea, I was clear in my head that if we are doing this, we should do it at scale. So, we decided to do this in a hybrid model. We will have 120 applicants in the physical classroom and we are expecting around 2000 in the virtual Google Classroom,” added Bhattacharjee.

The initiative has been titled, Srikanta Bhattacharjee Memorial Coaching Programme and to know the selection procedure and other details, one must follow ‘Team Karimganj’ Facebook page. Samujjal Das will be the chief instructor of the programme, however, Bhattacharjee informed that there will be a team of instructors with subject matter experts, who will work closely with Das to develop the materials and coaching modules.

Hrishiraj Bhattacharjee did his post-graduation from King’s College in London after completing his B-Tech from NIT Silchar. He has worked at many multinational companies and has held leadership positions across the Asia Pacific. He explains his activities in Karimganj as, “initiatives to give it back to his own place.”
