Guardians of a Govt. School in Tarapur protest against appointment of a headmaster with sexual offence charges

The parents and guardians of the students of SK Govt., MV Practising School have staged a protest against the transfer of the existing head teacher of the school, in front of the Office of the Deputy Inspector of Schools. The parents who staged the protest today came with demands against the appointment of the new headmaster who according to them, is an alleged sex offender. The gathered parents and guardians also wrote an application addressed to the Director of Elementary Education of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

The guardians of the school alleged that Mojibur Rahman Barbhuiya, who is the former headmaster of Rongpur Govt., Senior Basic School is a sexual offender and a lot of cases were registered by his female colleagues, students, and even the cook.

The application submitted by the association of parents read, “We have come to know that the former Head Master of Rongpur Govt. Senior Basic School, Mr. Mojibur Rahman Barbhuiya is willing to get a transfer to S. K. Govt. M.V. Practising School No. 3. A lot of sexual harassment cases were reported against this person by the female staff, students, and the school cook of Rongpur Govt. Senior Basic School”.

It further mentioned, “According to the constitutional article 354 and 506 Case No. 851/2018, was filed against Mr. Mojibur Rahman under the POCSO Act. Because of this, he was in jail for almost three months and the case is still continuing against him. For this reason, the Director of Elementary Eduation, Assam has given order to transfer him to Udharbond Practising Govt. Senior Basic School, but the local public and the guardians did not allow him to join there. Even the guardians of Arkatipur Govt. Senior Basic School did not allow this person to join in their school too”.

Madhumita Sharma, a student’s guardian said, “We won’t tolerate such a teacher who has indulged in sexual harassment and has been sent to jail for this. The current headmaster still has one year of duty before retirement and we want him to continue in this position. We will protest against this if he is appointed. No school deserve a teacher like him”.
