Horrifying Fire Engulfs Oil Tanker in Silchar's Chirukandi Area

In a startling incident today, Silchar residents witnessed a dangerous situation as a fully-loaded oil tanker suddenly burst into flames, causing injuries to the driver, Raghunath Choudhury. The alarming episode unfolded in Silchar’s Chirukandi Area, where the vehicle became engulfed in massive flames, visible from a considerable distance.

A shocked crowd quickly gathered as the fire raged, prompting the swift response of two fire brigade trucks upon receiving the information. It took approximately one hour for the firefighters to bring the situation under control and secure the area from further danger. Unfortunately, the driver sustained injuries during the fiery ordeal.

According to eyewitnesses, the tanker, en route from Moinarband Oil Depot to Borjalenga, encountered the unexpected blaze upon reaching the Chirukandi area. Although not confirmed, speculation surrounds a potential technical glitch as the cause of the fire.

Fortunately, the prompt intervention of the firefighters averted a more dire outcome. According to the driver, the fire resulted in the destruction of approximately ₹12,000 worth of oil. Recounting the harrowing experience, he mentioned that the fire originated beneath the vehicle. They detected the smell of smoke initially, soon they investigated and discovered flames below, rapidly consuming the entire vehicle.
