Itkhola’s badminton championship to kickstart on January 2; Entries open for U19, U13, veterans and open categories

Itkhola AC organised badminton tournament is one of the best organised badminton tournaments in Barak Valley. All top shuttlers go out of their comfort zone to play outdoors for the prestigious prize money title. 

President of Itkhola AC, Bijendra Prasad Singh informed during a press conference that the 2022 edition of the tournament will kickstart from January 2. The matches will be played under floodlights at Itkhola Durga Mandap’s field and the organisers will guard the court to reduce air pressure.

Singh added that the organisers want this tournament to be a launchpad for the emerging shuttlers from the valley and that is why under 13 and under 19 categories have been earmarked. He informed that the players interested in entering in these categories will have to furnish birth certificate as age proof and Rs 300 for U19 and Rs 200 for U13 as entry fees. For players participating in open doubles, the entry fee is Rs 400 and for singles, it is Rs 300. Players need to furnish PAN card as only those above 40 are eligible to participate in the veterans category.

Like last year, the organisers are expecting high number of participants this year. Senior members of the club, Rajendra Prasad Singh and Amit Deb has been selected as convenors of the tournament.
