Kerala Police Arrests Woman from Nagaon in Cachar for Husband’s Brutal Murder in Kerala
In a shocking turn of events, a woman from Morabari, Nagaon, Assam, who fled after murdering her husband in Kerala, has been arrested in Cachar. Kerala Police conducted a raid in the Bhaga area of Cachar and apprehended the accused, Zayeda Khatun.
Zayeda, who had been living in Kerala’s Ernakulam district with her husband, Babul Hussain, committed the heinous crime on October 1. Following a family dispute over Babul’s first wife, Zayeda attacked him with a sharp weapon while he was asleep, cutting his throat, and then poured acid over his body to ensure his death.
Babul Hussain, a resident of Morabari, Nagaon, had been working in Kerala for an extended period. Tension between the couple had been escalating, largely due to Babul’s financial support for his first wife and their children in Assam.
Babul’s brother recounted the strained family dynamics saying, “Babul was married to a woman and they had two children together. But he would frequent the neighbour’s home and gradually they fell in love. This other woman too was married and when they fell in love, they fled to Kerala and got married. His first wife was not given enough money for sustenance, and whenever Babul gave money, the second wife would get jealous and start fighting.”
The situation took a deadly turn when, frustrated by Babul’s continued support for his first wife, Zayeda and her sister conspired to murder him. After committing the crime, Zayeda fled Kerala and sought refuge in Cachar, Assam. Kerala Police, following leads from their investigation, tracked her down with the help of Cachar Police. She was arrested while working at a local brick kiln and has since been taken back to Kerala for further legal proceedings.
