Land Scam: Cachar Police summons DC office employee for interrogation
Big breaking news coming in from the heart of the town. The operation against land scams in Silchar has dragged to the deputy commissioner’s office.
If sources are to be believed, Prannoy Chakraborty, Senior Assistant Deputy Commissioner’s office – Permission branch is being interrogated at Silchar Sadar Police Station. According to available information, Chakraborty has been summoned today at 11:00 AM and till now he is in the Police Station.
Sources in deputy commissioner’s office informed that for the last 25 years at least, he has remained associated with the permission branch. Even if he was transferred to other offices within Cachar district, he stayed attached with the permission department which raises many questions.
Police sources informed that he has been summoned in connection with a land scam in Berenga Part II. Titu Mazumdar had lodged an FIR on October 23 that a plot registered on his name has been sold on the basis of fake or forged documents. Speaking with Barak Bulletin Mazumdar said that they were born and brought up in Dimapur. “Our parents left a lot of properties for me and my brother. In 2013, my father died and in 2015, me and my brother, following the legal procedure did batowara. On October 10, I visited Silchar on my way to Ajmer. Then I got to know that there is some construction work going on in my plot. Immediately, I visited the plot and confronted them. Then I got to know that some miscreants made forged papers of my plot and sold it,” said Titu Mazumdar.
He lodged an FIR at Silchar Sadar Police Station and based on that, on November 21, Cachar Police arrested arrested Sahin Barbhuiya, who worked as the assistant of Mohrib of this particular deal.
More than 2 bigha land worth several crores changed ownership without a single valid document. In fact, the actual owner of the land did not even know about the transaction. After Saheen was arrested and interrogated, Cachar Police summoned Prannoy Chakraborty and is currently interrogating him. How far in the hierarchy will this go is something that remains to be seen.
