“Like Wagah Border, we can have a beating retreat in Sutarkandi too,” BSF on 70th Republic Day
On India – Pakistan border, every evening thousands gather to witness the ceremonial lowering of the National flag of both the countries. The action-packed beating retreat leaves spectators with goosebumps. Not at the same scale as Wagah Border in Amritsar but a retreat attracts people in Akhaura India – Bangladesh Border in Agartala too.
Yesterday, Sutarkandi India – Bangladesh border through its Republic Day celebration mesmerised many. The drums, trumpets, and parade will stay in people’s mind for a very long time. The 70th Republic Day celebration at Sutarkandi borders was attended by Border Security Forces’ 07 Battalion, National Cadet Corps cadets, MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, MP Radheshyam Biswas, newly appointed superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner Phani Bhusan Roy and other eminent personalities.
The celebration started with BSF’s bulldog and officials saluting the guests. Then the soldiers marched a parade in the rhythm of the drums. Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya and other schools participated in cultural programmes, patriotic songs and dance performances. Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sarva Shiksha mission, Public Health engineering, National Rural Health Mission, PMHE, District Rural Development Agency and Fire Brigade exhibited their tableau
During his speech 07 Battalion’s Captain Suraj Singh Negi mentioned that the Sutarkandi border can also host a beating retreat as done in Wagah Border. The celebration ended with a ceremonious lowering of Indian National Flag.
