Local youths in Dholai stops the working of ONGC, alleges destruction of property and Bhuban Hill

The local youths of the Dholai area have alleged that the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation have deprived them and employed workers from outside in their projects in the area. For this reason, they stopped the work of the ONGC in Dholai and started a demonstration against this agency on Friday. They also alleged that Mahabala Constructions, who have been working on contracts for the projects in Dholai have caused loss and decay in the area.

On Friday, the locals of Dholai gathered in the Dholai area to make their voices heard and stop the working of the ONGC in the area. Their allegation is that the ONGC didn’t hire the locals for this work and deprived them, bringing labours from outside for this work. Even though the youths submitted a memorandum addressing the manager of the construction company to hire the local youths, the company didn’t pay any heed to their demands.

Biplab Dey on behalf of the youths gathered on Friday said, “The construction company frequently conducts blasts in different areas for their projects, and for those blasts, our homes are getting damaged and destroyed. Even in Bhuban Hill, they have conducted several blasts which resulted in erosion and landslides. Today we have stopped their work and we want the administration to look into the destruction caused by the ONGC and this company. We demand that this project be terminated immediately”.
