
Major Accident in Cachar: Bus Carrying Tea Workers Overturns, Over 40 Injured
More than 40 tea garden workers were injured, several of them seriously, after a passenger bus met with an accident at Borshinga in Cachar district on Monday (June 22) afternoon.
According to information received, the workers were travelling from Largeching Tea Estate towards Palorbond in a passenger bus when the accident occurred. As the vehicle reached the Borshinga area under Udharbond, the driver reportedly lost control and the bus overturned on the roadside.
The impact left over 40 tea workers injured. Following the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and assisted in rescuing the passengers. The injured were subsequently taken to Udharbond Hospital for treatment.
Sources said the condition of several injured workers is critical. Meanwhile, some passengers alleged that the bus was carrying more than 60 people despite having a seating capacity of around 35. Further details are awaited as authorities continue to assess the situation.
