Major Drug Bust in Cachar: 1,420 Bottles of Illegal Cough Syrup Seized, One Held in Udharbond Raid

Cachar Police have seized a large quantity of banned and illegal cough syrup during an operation in Udharbond and arrested one person allegedly linked to the illegal trade.

The arrested individual has been identified as Azizur Haque Barbhuiya, a resident of Durganagar in Udharbond.

According to police sources, the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs. A team from Udharbond Police Station conducted a raid at a warehouse belonging to Azizur Haque Barbhuiya in Durganagar Fifth Part.

During the search, police recovered a total of 1,420 bottles of banned and illegal cough syrup from the warehouse. The entire consignment was seized, and the accused was taken into custody on the spot.

The seized cough syrup has been brought to Udharbond Police Station, while the accused is being questioned as part of the investigation.

Police sources said the black-market value of the seized cough syrup is estimated to be several lakh rupees. Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the consignment and whether others were involved in the alleged smuggling network.
