Mentally unstable woman rescued in Silchar; sent to One Stop Centre

Late afternoon, a woman was found lying near the Police Quarters in Tarapur area. Locals immediately informed the Tarapur Police Outpost and officials rushed to the spot. Eyewitnesses say the woman was initially fast asleep but later as the Police officials reached the spot she woke up.

The Police officials inspecting the case said they rescued her and took her to the Police station. Later she was examined by specialist doctors. “When she was asked about her address she replied to the medical officer and said she stays in Katlicherra in Hailakandi. However, when she was asked about her parents each time she gave a different name. She also said that her father, Moinul Haque Laskar has already passed away,” informed the investigating officer.

“To me, she seemed to be mentally unstable and that is why we took special care. Now she has been sent to the One Stop Centre in Silchar,” said the Police officer. He added, “Just after she was sent to the One Stop Centre, a married couple came to the Police Station and claimed the person rescued is their daughter. I told them that she said her father is not alive any more to which they said their child is mentally unstable.”

Since the rescued woman was already sent to the One Stop Centre, the Police officer said he asked the couple to visit the police station tomorrow morning when they will investigate their claim. The couple said they are from Ramnagar Silchar.
