Miscreants snatch Rs 2 lakh from 57-year-old Sucheta Deb in Silchar

Snatchers and their joyride in Silchar continues. Like always, they did not fear the broad daylight or a busy road and this time targeted a 57-year-old woman.

Today afternoon, Shillogpatty resident Sucheta Deb went to State Bank of India main branch to withdraw Rs two lakh. After withdrawing the money while she was on her way back home, two miscreants snatched her bag leaving her weeping on the road.

“I had Rs 2 lakh and a few important documents in the bag. They forced it out of my hand and I got hurt,” said Deb.

The incident took place right in front of Cachar deputy commissioner’s residence. Police officials from Silchar Sadar Police Station reached the spot to kick start investigation. “We are investigating the matter,” said an officer.

Such incidents have become a common phenomenon in Silchar in the past few years.
