MLAs Visit NIAIMT-Silchar, Review Skill Development Facilities

Rajdeep Goala and Kishore Nath visited the Jaffirbond campus of National Institute for Automotive Inspection, Maintenance and Training (NIAIMT-Silchar) on June 30 to review its skill development facilities and training programmes aimed at preparing a skilled workforce for the automotive sector.

During the visit, the MLAs interacted with Dr. Aninda Bijoy Paul and other institute officials. Dr. Paul briefed them on the institute’s infrastructure, skill development training facilities and the various programmes being conducted at the campus. He also sought their support for collaboration with the Assam government’s skill development initiatives.

The legislators toured the institute’s Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Station (IMS), where vehicle fitness testing is carried out, as well as the Driver Training Institute (DTI). They were informed about the facilities and services available at the institute.

According to NIAIMT, both MLAs appreciated the institute’s infrastructure and training facilities. They expressed hope that the institute would continue to contribute to the development of a skilled workforce in the North Eastern region and said they were willing to extend necessary support for its future initiatives.

NIAIMT, which functions under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, conducts skill development and training programmes related to the automotive sector. The institute said the visit was aimed at creating greater awareness about its training facilities and programmes among the public and stakeholders.
