
Mortal remains of Officer Sanju Das reaches Silchar; Gun salute at funeral
ALRS Sanju Das who died on duty after a mechanised boat capsized in Dhubri hails from Irongmara in Cachar district. His mortal remains reached Silchar today morning. After the dead body was recovered yesterday, it was sent to the hospital for routine procedure. Following which, the coffin was loaded on an ambulance which drove to Silchar.
At Silchar Circuit House, the administration had kept a van decorated with garlands to receive the mortal remains of the dedicated officer. He had gone to inspect a soil-erosion site and on his way back, met with the accident. Why was the officer not provided with any life jackets is a question that is being asked.
At circuit house, deputy commissioner of Cachar, Rohan Kumar Jha, SP Numal Mahatta, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya among other dignitaries received the dead body and a convoy was arranged to escort the morgue-van to Irongmara.
“His dead body will now be transported to Irongmara where his last rites will be performed in presence of the family members,” said minister Suklabaidya.
Cachar Police informed that a Gul Salute Funeral will be performed as a mark of respect to the Circle Officer of Dhubri.
