Netaji Sangha to Organise Cultural Event and Renovation of Language Martyrs’ Memorial in Silchar

In a tribute to the 11 language martyrs of the Barak Valley, Netaji Sangha will organise a special programme on Monday, May 18, at Rahman Patti in Malugram, combining the renovation of the martyrs’ memorial with an evening of cultural performances and remembrance.

The programme will begin with floral tributes being offered at the martyrs’ memorial, followed by a short discussion session dedicated to the memories of the language martyrs. Speakers during the event are expected to reflect on the history of the Barak Valley language movement and the sacrifices made by the 11 martyrs for the protection of the Bengali language in the region.

Organisers said the event will also feature a vibrant cultural segment, including patriotic songs, recitations, group musical performances and dance presentations. Several local artists and cultural activists are expected to participate in the programme.

The organisers believe the event will serve not only as a tribute to the martyrs but also as an occasion to remember the cultural and historical legacy associated with the language movement in the Barak Valley.

Social worker Architendu Das, popularly known as Kishan, has appealed to distinguished guests, cultural activists and members of the public to attend the programme in large numbers.
