NF Railway lists RPF's rescue and search operation details; 181 individuals rescued, 4 traffickers arrested, 4 pushed back to Bangladesh

In a press statement, the Northeast Frontier Railway has informed that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway successfully rescued 21 persons including minors during routine checking at different trains and railway stations over N. F. Railway from July 17 to 22. Moreover, the RPF of N. F. Railway also rescued 189 persons including minor children and women during April, 2022 to June, 2022; whereas 04 persons were rescued from being trafficked. RPF also apprehended 04 persons allegedly involved in human trafficking during this period. All of them were rescued from trains, railway premises and stations in different operations conducted over N. F. Railway.

On 18.07.2022, Sub Inspector along with Meri Saheli team of RPF post, New Alipurduar while conducting a routine checking at New Alipurduar station noticed one lady with a child and a male person at the waiting hall. On interrogation the lady stated that she run away with the male person. The said person assured the lady to marry her but later the lady realized that she might have been trafficked by the said person. Suspecting it to be a case of human trafficking, the detained male person along with the lady and child was handed over to Officer Incharge/Government Railway Police/New Alipurduar who in turn forwarded them to Officer Incharge/Boxirhat local police of that jurisdiction for further course of action.

In another incident on 19.07.2022, Assistant Sub Inspector along with staff of RPF post of Dimapur, while checking at Dimapur Railway Station rescued two minor boys. Later, the rescued minor boys were handed over to Child line/Dimapur for further course of action.

In a recent incident on 22.07.2022, Sub Inspector along with staff of RPF post, Kamakhya conducted a joint checking with Government Railway Police/Kamakhya and local police of Jalukbari Police Station at Kamkahya Railway station against human trafficking and anti social elements. During the checking, they rescued four minor girls. During interrogation, the girls stated that they had come from Bangladesh through Agartala and came to Guwahati by bus. Later, arrangements were made to push back the rescued minor girls to Bangladesh for further course of action.

RPF train escort parties and staff deployed at stations have been alerted and vigilant and on the lookout for suspected persons involved in human trafficking as well as the movement of children in a suspicious manner, travelling alone, without proper guardian etc.
