Nuruddin Trophy: Aman Singh, Parvez Musharaf Tons, Captain Rahul Singh’s 9-Wicket Haul Power Silchar To Quarters

Silchar produced a statement performance in the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament 2026 Elite Group, crushing Nalbari by an innings and 173 runs at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati. It was a match dominated almost entirely by Silchar, with centuries from Aman Singh and Parvez Musharaf setting up a massive first-innings total, before captain Rahul Singh completed the job with the ball.

The win also confirmed Silchar’s place in the quarter-finals. With 10 points from two matches, Silchar are currently placed at the top of Group A, having already defeated Bongaigaon in their opening fixture by first innings lead. Their next match against Guwahati will now decide the group topper, but with Bongaigaon and Nalbari unable to catch up from the bottom half of the table, Silchar have already sealed progression to the knockouts.

Nalbari won the toss and opted to bat first, but the decision backfired quickly. Silchar’s bowlers struck early and never allowed Nalbari to settle. Samik Das removed both openers, while Amit Kumar Yadav added pressure with two wickets of his own. But the innings belonged to skipper Rahul Singh, who bowled a controlled spell of 9 overs, 5 maidens, 12 runs and 4 wickets. Hritwik Dhar and Parvez Musharaf also chipped in as Nalbari were bundled out for 75 in 29.3 overs.

Silchar’s reply was emphatic. Openers Parvez Musharaf and Aman Singh turned the match into a one-sided contest with a commanding partnership. Musharaf played the more aggressive hand, scoring 134 off 129 balls with 17 boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 103.88. Aman Singh matched him with a composed 130 off 147 balls, hitting 18 fours and two sixes. Their centuries ensured Silchar were never merely taking a lead, they were taking complete control of the match.

The opening stand took Silchar to 251 before Musharaf was dismissed. Aman followed later with the score at 293, but the damage had already been done. Subham Mandal added a brisk 40 off 42 balls, while Rituraj Biswas contributed 28. Silchar eventually declared at 383 for 5 in 69.4 overs, taking a lead that left Nalbari with a mountain to climb.

In their second innings, Nalbari showed more resistance but not enough to change the direction of the match. Diban Jyoti Barman fought with 38 off 39 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, while Nitish Talukdar and Anup Barman got starts. But once again, Rahul Singh stood tall for Silchar. The captain returned with an even bigger spell, taking 5 wickets for 45 runs in 16.5 overs. Parvez Musharaf completed a fine all-round match with 3 for 31, while Hritwik Dhar picked up one wicket.

Nalbari were bowled out for 135 in 47.5 overs, handing Silchar a dominant innings victory. For Silchar, it was a match built on three defining performances: Aman Singh’s century, Parvez Musharaf’s century and three wickets, and Rahul Singh’s captain’s spell across both innings, where he finished with match figures of 9 wickets for 57 runs.

The result will give Silchar a major boost in the Elite Group league stage, not just because of the margin of victory, but because of the manner in which they won. Their top order batted with authority, their captain led from the front, and the bowling unit ensured Nalbari were never allowed back into the contest. Now, with a quarter-final berth secured, the match against Guwahati becomes the next major test, a battle not for survival, but for supremacy in Group A.
