'Poll Express' Starts Under the Initiative of Cachar District Administration; Will Visit Rural Border Areas to Create Awareness
To attract voters in the upcoming assembly election to vote, the Cachar District Administration is taking several initiatives. Under one such initiative, a mock polling centre has been set up named ‘Poll Express’ on Friday. It was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, DIG Southern Assam Range Debajyoti Mukherjee and Police Superintendent B. L. Meena at the DC office premises. The Poll Express will mainly travel to the rural border areas, where demos of the voting process will be shown to the general public through the car. New voters are being encouraged to cast their votes under the SVEEP initiative in the Cachar district. The primary goal is to make women voters aware about the election this year.
Taking part in the inauguration ceremony, DC Keerthi Jalli said, “I am a woman myself and our election official also happens to be a woman. We want to make the new female voters particularly aware this year. This mock polling centre named ‘Poll Express’ car will travel to different areas and inspire the common people. Apart from making people aware about voting, they will also be shown how to take part in the voting process. We are raising awareness among young voters through various initiatives as well. ”
DIG Debajyoti Mukherjee said, “The police and the administration are taking all necessary steps to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. However, besides completing the election process, the voters are being encouraged to exercise their constitutional rights. We appeal to every voter, you should & must assert your rights in the upcoming election. ”
Superintendent of Police B.L. Meena praised the work of the election department and urged every voter in the district to cast their vote. The whole process is being overseen by IAS Bibhore Agarwal, who is being assisted by Officer Bikash Chhetri, Ranvijay Das and several others. Several social organisations have also been included in the process and they will work towards awaring the voters in association with the District Administration.
