Rajdeep Roy visits Sushmita Dev's residence, seeks Bithika Dev's blessings
Member of Parliament elected, doctor Rajdeep Roy kick-started his new voyage by sending a strong message of inclusive politics. Narendra Modi, in his victory speech yesterday said, ‘Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas”. Today, Roy too exhibited a similar line of thoughts.
He went to see Sushmita Dev, whom he defeated in the general elections in the 17th Lok Sabha, at her residence in Tarapur. Not only that, Roy, adhering to the Indian tradition, touched Bithika Dev’s feet to seek blessings.
Roy was defeated by Dev in 2011 in the Assembly elections when both contested from Silchar constituency. This is Dev’s first defeat in her political career. She welcomed Roy at her house and conveyed her best wishes as the member of parliament.
Speaking to our correspondent, Roy said that he is grateful to the people of Barak Valley for electing him as the MP and giving BJP the mandate to serve. Roy credited prime minister Narendra Modi for his amazing leadership, congratulated BJP president Amit Shah for the party’s landslide victory in India. He thanked chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and NEDA chief Himanta Biswa Sarma for showing the path to victory.
