Rangirkhari Police confiscates narcotic tablets, cough syrup from Kanakpur, arrests one Subrajit Das

Huge quantities of narcotic tablets and addictive cough syrup was recovered by Cachar Police on Thursday afternoon. This operation was led by a team of police officers from Rangirkhari Outpost. One person has been arrested in this connection from Kanakpur.

Based on a secret intel, the Rangirkhari Police has apprehended this drug peddler named Subrajit Das. He was arrested from a rented home in Kanakpur area of Silchar. According to police information, they have been working on this intel for a long time. Allegedly, the peddling of such narcotic substances has increased in the Kanakpur area since sometime.

In the operation, the Rangirkhari Police has confiscated 278 bottles of cough syrup used for intoxication and 2880 tablets. The confiscated tablets are prescription drugs, used for treating anxiety and other such mental disorders.

The arrested drug peddler is a resident of Tarapur, Silchar. Subrajit Das, the drug peddler has been arrested under the provisions of NDPS Act. Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, of 1985 or NDPS Act prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substances.
