While after conservative treatment his condition improved, within a while he developed a slurred speech and deviation of angle of mouth on 17/2/2020 morning. Scans of his brain revealed that he suffered an ischaemic stroke involving vital areas of the brain. “His condition continued to worsen and he became unconscious by afternoon requiring ventilation. The treating Physicians & specialists lead by Dr. Giridhari Kar includes, Dr. Tanushree Deb Gupta, Dr. Abhijit Das & Dr. Rupankar Nath started all necessary treatments in consultation with eminent Neurologists from renowned institutes,” informed the nursing home in a medical bulletin.

There used to be a long queue outside his house as he has always remained the go-to person for the panicking parents. His demise will bring a weird silence around Prativa Bhavan in Ambicapatty and a new worry for the parents.
His daughter Lopamudra Das Roy, founder of Breast Cancer Hub Corporation, a non-profit organisation that works to generate breast-cancer awareness among people has come from America and was with him in his last moments. His son Kumardeep Das and wife Rita Das were also there at the hospital as were other family members and closed ones.
