Sept 8 COVID Update: Cachar 96, Karimganj 82 and 32 positive in Hailakandi; 2 dead in SMCH

Cachar district administration has informed that 96 individuals have tested positive for COVID19 in the district on Tuesday. 73 of them tested positive after tests conducted using the Rapid Antigen Test kits. 1042 samples were tested using the RAT kit on September 8 in Cachar.

The Vice-Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that 24 new patients took admission to the various COVID wards in SMCH while 28 were discharged on Tuesday. He added that two individuals of Cachar district have died in the COVID wards in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 119. However, 44 of the 119 have been declared as COVID deaths whereas the rest are COVID related death. Reportedly , two persons died in last 24 hours are Shanu Sutradhar (37) of  National Highway, Silchar and Kalibrata Deb (72) of club Road, Silchar.

“25 patients are in critical condition and 16 of them are in ICU. One patient has been placed under ventilation and there are 46 patients on oxygen support. Overall, at this stage, there are 197 patients in the COVID wards,” informed Dr. Gupta

In Karimganj district, the number of COVID positive cases on Tuesday stood at 82. 850 samples were tested using the RAT kit and 42 of them tested positive where are 40 were declared positive after RT-PCR tests. On September 8, 95 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Karimganj.

The detection of COVID positive cases remains low in Hailakandi. The district reported 32 COVID positive cases yesterday. 649 samples were tested and 23 of them tested positive on RAT.
