The importance of railways in Barak Valley cannot be underestimated, particularly during times of crisis. Recent storms wreaked havoc on land transportation routes, causing disruptions not only on roads but also damaging railway tracks. Now, ongoing repair works on the tracks have compounded the challenges for residents, worsening their situation.
Amidst these disruptions, the valley is also facing pressure on essential stocks. Fortunately, yesterday saw the passage of 2 rakes of food grains and 2 rakes of oil, offering some relief. Today’s plan includes one sugar rake and one food grain rake, which are expected to alleviate the strain on essential supplies. These freight trains play a crucial role in sustaining the valley’s economy and meeting the needs of its residents during these trying times.
