Recently we broke the news that Bir Radha Sherpa will be seen as a Skipper (Captain) in Zee TV’s reality show, Dance India Dance (DID) Lil Masters. On the sidelines of the show-launch event in Mumbai our correspondent got hold of Bir and spoke to him.
The young energetic dancer from Barak Valley was very happy to return DID Lil Masters as a Skipper. “To come back in the show as captain where I was once not even selected is a great feat for me. I remember the day when I performed on the Dance India Dance Lil Masters stage in the audition round Marzi (Pestonji) Sir had told me to work hard and come back again,” he recalls.
Well, Bir has worked hard won two dance reality shows and now will be in third one, but he is not taking the Zee TV challenge any lightly, “I am looking forward towards this opportunity, I will work hard will make the kids in my team work hard and hopefully Bir Ke Bahubali will win the competition,” says the dancer.
Apart from Bir, Tanay Malhara, Vaishnavi Patil and Jitumani Kalita will also captain their own team. Kids will be distributed among four teams and they will compete against each other, Bir’s team is named, “Bir Ke Bahubali”.
The dancer says he is often sympathised by people, “A lot of the times people come to me and say wow you have come from such a small town and have gone so far… to them I always say Silchar may be small in size compared to Mumbai or Delhi or any other large city but the people of Silchar has the biggest hearts. I also believe that there are huge talents in Silchar, what lacks is opportunities,” he adds.
Bir thinks it’s just the beginning for him, “Well, whatever success I have had so far is because of immense support from a few people, first is my mother I love her the most and she is the secret of all my energy and then Remo (Dsouza) Sir and Punit (Pathak) Sir… But I believe it’s just the start for me, I want to go and win international championships, I know it will take some time, I need to work really hard to reach that level, but that is what I intend to do in life,” he shares.
There are many people in Barak Valley who stop following their dreams due to lack of opportunities, Bir wants to open new worlds for the people of the region, “Once I have won international titles, I have become someone successful, I will train people from Silchar, I will make sure that everybody from my birth place get an opportunity to express themselves, to exhibit their talent. I will transfer my lessons to them, my positive energies and experiences, I would like to see many more success stories coming out from Silchar, that’s my aim,” he says.
That’s some retirement planning… many more success stories will emerge or not only time will let us know, but, Bir is a success story that no one in Barak Valley will ever forget…
