Silchar resident Joy Banik has allegedly jumped off from Sadarghat Bridge; Search operation is on 

At around 9:00 PM today, a scooter bearing number plate, AS11 H 1266 was spotted on Sadarghat Bridge in Rongpur, Silchar. As per eyewitnesses, within moments, the scooter stopped and the rider jumped off the bridge. The local Police station was immediately informed and they rushed to the spot.

The Police officer investigating the case said, “Initially we were told a girl has jumped off from the bridge. We checked the vehicle registration details and found out the name of the owner who hails from Pushpa Bihar Lane in Meherpur. We immediately started searching for the person and found out it wasn’t the owner but her brother who was riding the vehicle and is suspected to have jumped off.”

As per information National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Relief Force are in action and the search operation is on. “We are yet to find anything,” said the Police officer.

It is worth mentioning here that last week a GC College student also jumped off from the bridge in a similar manner.
