Silchar's Suraj Goala shines bright at National Senior Ranking Badminton tournament, bags 2 medals in Pune

What comes in as a massive matter of pride for the people of Barak Valley, Silchar’s Suraj Goala has won two medals in the Badminton Association of India organised, Yonex-Sunrise V.V.Natu Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2023. Goala and his partner Pruthvi Roy K won a ‘Bronze’ in Men’s doubles competition and a Silver in Mixed Doubles pairing with Manali Bora of Assam.

Being played at Modern PDMBA Sports Complex, Modern High School Premises, Shivajinagar, Pune, this is a National Level Ranking tournament. Suraj Goala has been performing reasonably well at the top level both domestically and outside the country.

He was seeded third in the Men’s Doubles competition and seventh in Mixed Doubles, in India. He is currently training at a Coaching Centre in Bangalore’s JP Nagar and preparing for top-tier competitions. He trains at the Yadav Pro Badminton Academy which is one of the best performing Badminton Academies since 2011 founded by Former International player, 5 International Medalist and prestigious All England Open Participant Jagadish Yadav.

Suraj Goala has won several age group tournaments in the past. A few days back, he was at the Maldives representing India. His aim is to represent India at the Olympics and is currently practicing to achieve his goal.
