State cabinet meeting in Silchar this winter says Rajdeep Roy
Remember when the first historic Assam cabinet meeting held outside state capital at Majuli on 2016. The history is going to repeat again when the state cabinet will meet outside Guwahati at Barak Valley this winter.
Surprised? Well, don’t be. As this is really going to happen. Announcing it, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy from the stage of Bhumi Pujan Ceremony of Mini Secretariat, said that the Assam government will soon hold a cabinet meeting at Silchar, which will help to grow the sense of equality among the residents of Barak & Brahmaputra valley.
“Last week, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal called me up to discuss about today’s Bhomi Pujan ceremony. On sidelines of it, he mentioned that the government is mulling to hold a cabinet meeting at Silchar this winter. He also asked me to undertake all preparedness to hold the cabinet meeting at here,” Roy said while addressing the gathering.
The newly selected MP also said that the Bharatiya Janta Party is only party which has succeed to bring people of the two valley closer. “Earlier when the people from here used to go to other parts of the state, they used to say that ‘going to Assam’. On the same way Cachar was addressed as Cancer by that side. But the situation has changed after BJP came to power” he mentioned.
It can be mentioned here that the Assam government on 8th September 2016, held a cabinet meeting at Majuli district, which was also the first, to take place outside the state’s capital. The meeting set a precedent in Assam’s political history.
