Subham Mandal's brilliant century helps Town Club secure massive win against Uttarpara's
Subham Mondal of Town Club hit his second century in the ongoing Assam Premier Club Championship organised in Silchar. With the help of this century, Uttarpara defeated Town Club with a huge margin of 258 runs.
This was the second century scored in the ACA Premier Club Championship organised by Silchar District Sports Association. Earlier, Joydeep Singh of Jogajog Sangha scored a century in the tournament. Though Subham played a great innings on Wednesday but the match was almost one-sided. It seems to have become a trend in the tournament. So far a total of six matches have been played and not a single was a nail biting one. All the matches were one sided. That trend continued even today.
After winning the toss in the morning, Uttarpara Club decided to field first but very quickly their decision boomeranged. Not a single bowler from Uttarpara could take advantage infront of the strong batting lineup of the Town Club. Mobilising the situation, Town Club scored a huge 314 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Subham Mandal remained unbeaten at 111 runs and scored 15 fours. Besides, state team players Abhishek Thakuri (55) and Krishanu Dutta (59) scored half century each whie Aman Singh made 24. 44 runs came from extras. Opponent Rishab Dutta Majumder took 3 wickets but gave ten runs per over.
It was not possible for Uttapara to chase this huge amount of runs against a team like Town Club. However, they could not build even the slightest resistance. Their innings came to an end after scoring 57 runs in 16.2 overs. Tanmoy Chakraborty (19) and Mukesh Gowala (17) of their team made significant contributions to the run chase while opponent Samik Das took three wickets.
