Silchar has beaten Tezpur in the semifinal match on May 26 to book a berth in the final of Nuruddin Trophy Inter-District Cricket tournament.

Silchar secured a comprehensive victory decided on their first innings lead, in the match against Tezpur. The match was played in Barsapara ACA stadium in Guwahati.

Silchar left-arm spinner Rahul Singh was the most valuable player of this match. His extraordinary run with the ball continued in the semi final too. He took three wickets in the first innings and six wickets in the second innings.

Tezpur batted first and able to score 163 only after playing 60 overs. No batter of Tezpur could make big impact with bat. Jugen Das scored 31, Rajkuddin, Hirak Jyoti Deka and Anurag Talukder scored 23 each.

For Silchar Rahul Singh took three wickets for for 40 runs, Amit Yadav and Joydeep Singh took two each.

In response, Silchar took a formidable lead in the first inning and scored 228 runs. Opener Subham Mondal played a magnificent knock of 80 runs with ten eye pleasing boundaries. Amit Yadav 43 and Joydeep Singh 40, made important contributions with bat.

Siddharth Sarmah got six wickets, Imran and Rajkuddin got three and two wickets respsctively for Tezpur.

Tezpur in their second innings were able to put up 281 runs on board, they played 74.2 overs. Jugen made 97, Siddharth Sarmah scored 81, for Silchar Rahul Singh got six for 80 runs.

Silchar in their second innings scored 76 for no wicket.
