Tense situation in Kalain after alleged cow theft; Two thieves detained by locals, vehicle set on fire

In broad daylight, two thieves who tried to steal cows were caught by the locals in Kalain. The angry mob vandalised an Alto car which was used by the thieves and torched it. The two thieves Bappon Ahmed and Saidul Ahmed were later handed over to the police by the locals after thrashing them. The incident took place in Kalain’s Sindura Tea Garden. Currently the thieves are under police’s custody.

Three people were trying to steal a cow from Sindura Tea Garden using an Alto car. As the thieves loaded a cow inside the car it was witnessed by the locals. When the local people understood what was happening, the thieves tried to evade from the spot. The locals also started chasing them. After going some distance and realising the situation was alarming, the thieves unloaded the cow from the car. Taking advantage of the situation, the locals detained the three thieves.

In the ensuing fighting between the two groups, one thief managed to successfully escape from the spot. The locals vandalised the Alto car which was used for cattle lifting and torched it. Later they called the police and handed over the two thieves to them.

At present, the two thieves are in the custody of Kalain Police. The house of the two cow thieves is in Kalain’s Bhatpara area.
