Two miscreants dressed as Buddhist monks arrested by police; one is a Silchar resident

Police arrested two miscreants, who were involved in unreligious activities in Unakoti of Tripura. The people of Deppa-Chara in Tripura’s Pechartal area caught these two miscreants and handed them over to the police. These two are Nabajyoti Dhar of Silchar and the other from Nagpur, Subhuti alias Sanjay Bhangre.

The two dressed as monks were on their way to the Buddhist monastery. People in the area suspected them and asked for identification. While they did provide it, the doubtful residents decided to take them to the nearest Nabin-Chara Buddhist monastery themselves. There, the removed their Buddhist monk uniforms. When their mobile phones were examined, the people realised that they harassing a Chakma girl through Whatsapp. When contacted, the young woman confirmed the harassment.

Post this, the people beat them up and later handed them over to the police. The locals shared that both of them were trolling around the area. And the identity card they produced was of a group called the New All India Congress Committee.

Nabajyoti Dhar is said to be a resident of Silchar Premtala area but his family has moved out. As a vagabond, he has been going around dressed as a Buddhist monk. After beaten by the public the two confessed of their crime. The people of Pechartal have demanded severe punishment on the ground of religious fraud.
