
Two Separate Road Accidents in Udharbond Mahasadak Leave One Dead and Three Injured
On Thursday, two separate road accidents occurred on the Udharbond Mahasadak, leaving one dead and three injured. The first accident occured at around 6 pm near the Hingjuripar area under Udharbond Police Station. An autorickshaw travelling towards Dolu from Silchar side lost control and hit an electricity pole on the divider of the highway. The autorickshaw overturned and was badly damaged, resulting in serious injuries to the autorickshaw driver and a passenger. Local people rushed to the spot and rescued the injured, who were later sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital by ambulance as they sustained major injuries. The Udharbond police also arrived at the accident site, retrieved the damaged autorickshaw, and brought it to the police station. Till the time this article was written, the names of the injured was not known.
In the second accident, which occurred at around 8 pm on Thursday night, a collision between a bike and a scooter in the Char Mile area of Mahasadak resulted in the death of a youth while another person got seriously injured. The deceased youth was identified as Pancham Dey, a resident of the Kalibari Road area, while the name of the other person who got seriously injured was not known till the time of writing this article. Locals rushed to the spot and sent the two injured persons to Udharbond Primary Health Centre for treatment. They were later shifted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital considering the seriousness of their injuries. However, despite efforts to save their lives, Pancham Day could not be saved and passed away after reaching SMCH.
The incidents highlight the need for better road safety measures on the Udharbond Mahasadak to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
